The Fastest Runner I Know

Most people that have spent even a short amount of time with me know that I enjoy running. During our time in South Dakota, we have been able to meet a couple Olympic level runners and numerous other college runners. None of these people could have competed with my grandfather last week as he ran to meet my grandmother in heaven after six years of physical separation. Anyone that was there would not have known that this man was suffering from a broken hip and other broken bones only moments earlier.
While we all dealt with sadness, knowing that he will no longer be able spill food all over his non-matching outfits at family gatherings, I am comforted by the fact that he is reacquainted with the love of his life.
Take time to enjoy your families, loved ones, and friends. And if you ever time to go for a run, just try to keep up with my grandpa.

He must have been an incredible man, with the wonderful things you and Aaron have to say about him.

Sorry for your loss, but happy for his gain.

Very nice...I love all three pictures of Grandpa that you have posted. What fun stories are behind them!

An explanation of the pictures further shows how special Grandpa Don was. Dad drove himself to a fitness center every day until he was not allowed to drive. The picture was taken Christmas 2006.

Dad went to the local variety store to ask what to buy a 4 year old for her birthday. He bought the recommended umbrella. He and Kaitlyn later posed for the picture with the new umbrella.

He eagerly wore the party hat at Paige's 1st birthday party. He wore it the entire 45 minute trip back to Tyler and into the building where he lived. I'm not sure HOW LONG he wore it after that!

What an example he was for spending time with his family! I aspire to continuing the legacy he left. It definately is not a chore, with 2 great sons and daughter-in-laws, and 7 beautiful and fun grandchildren.
